Hi, I’m Thomas Varga, and I am passionate about removing the mystique around acting. You CAN develop a reliable process, and I want to help you find yours. I can help you:
Develop AUTHENTICITY in front of the camera and with your scene partner.
Analyze a scene to fully understand and inhabit the CIRCUMSTANCES of the character.
Generate dramatic and/or comedic tension to ACTIVATE your performance.
Make strong choices that are ENGAGING to an audience , and TRUE to the individual actor.

I want to help each actor I work with develop steps they can take that will allow them to feel confident in any audition, or performance. I am not in the business of holding onto the “keys.” I want YOU to be able to unlock your own approach, and flourish as an actor in charge of your own process. I will help you take out the guesswork and give you the confidence you need in your technique to be able to truly make it in this business, and grow as an artist.
How I work:
In my private classes, I primarily work with individuals or pairs of students to give a unique experience of in depth and focused attention that you simply cannot receive in a larger class. This means FAR MORE individual attention than you may receive elsewhere, while still developing a process. I also provide audition coaching.
Credentials:
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Acting from UC Irvine (one of the top MFA programs in the country)
Currently working actor with credits on Film, TV, Theatre, Shakespeare, Voice Over, Commercial and Industrial projects.
Over 5 years of teaching experience at the college level, as well as private teaching and coaching of students in their teens through their 60s.
Have taught (or currently teach) for: UC Irvine, Cypress College, Actor’s Studio of Orange County, Seven Pillars acting studio, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and New Swan Shakespeare Festival.
